Uiseong has the last factory of Korea that makes match, which once light up the cold and dark nights of Korean people but now has become the thing that everybody remembers but nobody uses.



의성 애플리즈(사과와인), Ui seong applease

40 apple farms founded apple winery together in 1996. they have a lot of wine making techniques and products like pottery mature wine, ginseng apple, pomegranate wine etc...

Especially a making own wine is very popular experience for foreign visitors. it take one and a half hours.



이하복가옥, Ha-bok lee's house

Ha-bok lee's house is a thatched-roof house, it was made 150 years ago. In the 1960s, government changed all thatched-roof houses to modern style houses. but ha-bok lee resisted government's policy. it is not a for display, people have lived here until now.

There are plaiting rice straw, 200years old tree, kitchen equipment, bookshelves, platform for crocks of sauces and condiments etc...

There is a Kisan village in the seo cheon gun Kisna myun hwa san li.

This village has provided special activities to travelers that's why some people called that special experiences village.

This village has some special agricultural products those are um tree(kalopanax), lotus and ramie fabric.

Village people have made rice cake, rice noodle with ramie fabric. Also travelers can do this activities with them.

this village's most popular things are lotus and onggi(pottery). In the summer we can see beautiful full bloom lotus in the seo cheon botanical art garden. A cafe in the seo cheon botanical art garden sells lotus ice cream, lotus leaf tea. it is hard to taste other place.

The seo cheon botanical art garden was made by Jae-wan kim who is a member of kisan village. Before he was a principal of elementary school. After he retire, he has made this garden for forty years. there are not only plants but also thousands of potteries that from all across the country. We can also see traditional instruments, school supplies and pot etc in this place.

Natural Dyeing with onion

1. Boil onion shells and and cool

2. Tie a cotton cloth using rubber band ( enclosed part is corrupted)

3. Soak a 2 in 1 and hand-rub

The colors of nature are imbued in the cloth. For example red dye is obtainde from the petals of fed flowers. The color pigment is extracted by grounding the petals in a mortar, putting them in a jar and rinsing them with hot caustic soda. It is a very slow, complicated, precise process.  The colors obtainde in this way differ greatly artifitial dyes in their color and depth. Environmentally friendly and beneficial to the human body.
